How can I recover deleted SMS from my SIM card?

You can recover a deleted SMS, using a feature that exists in SIM Manager 2.1 (currently a release candidate version (http://files.dekart.com/beta/SIM-Manager-2.1b4.zip)).


Note that it will recover an SMS that was marked as deleted (i.e. it still resides on the card but is not shown on the phone). Most phones choose to actually erase the SMS entirely - so your chance to recover the message depends on the phone you use.

How can you tell if your phone actually delets the SMS or if it is in the sim card?

Is there anyway to tell how many messages your sim card will hold?

You can't, unless you try; this is never indicated in the phone's description. In practice, we've seen that most Motorola phones will mark them as deleted, while other vendors' phones will actually delete them.


As for your second question, you can do that in SIM Manager 2, there will be as many lines in the SMS archive section, as there are SMS slots on the SIM.

When you say sim manager 2 is that something you download or when you buy a card reader does it come with everythingyou need to read deleted messages? Or at least try to.

SIM Manager 2 is a program, downloadable software. You can buy SIM Manager 2 if you already have a PC/SC card reader.

Alternatively, you can buy our card reader bundled with SIM Manager 2 (https://dekart.cleverbridge.com/164/?scope=checkout&cart=14284&cb_ident=4ebaeb8b) (i.e. get all the items you need for the task).

Yep - you are correct about the "at least try to" part; I can't guarantee that in your case something can be recovered, for the reasons I gave in the previous message. If something can be done, SIM Manager 2 will do it.

I wish I would have seen this before I ordered the card reader. I see Sim manager 2 on the download page is that not the same thing? Do you have to buy it and a cd gets sent or something?

SIM Manager 2 is a newer version, it has more features than the 1.x release (including the 'undelete SMS' function).
It is not sent on a CD, instead you are sent an email address with the registration number and a download link (or you can continue using the trial version, and simply paste in the registration number).

I'll pass this into to my colleagues from sales, and they'll let you know what can be done in this case.
