Hello,
sorry I'm not sure for my English :)
I'm trying "Dekart logon" trial version.
I'm using a local general (all computer) account on my workstation.
I configured dekart to logout when the usbkey is removed.
Logon e disconnection work fine, but if I try to logon after a disconnection (plug out the usbkey), logon dosen't work properly.
Dekart read the key, access the account, load personal information, but I see only an empty desktop without icon e without the windows bar(taskbar).
The only thing I can do is crtl+alt+canc and lock the workstation, then dekart read the key and unlock the workstation, at this time I see all icon and taskbar.
Give the same result put password with keyboard at logon screen.

Important:
If I try to disconnect manually(Start, close session), reconnection work fine (both with key or with keyboard).

Thank you

My configuration:

Windows XP PRO SP2
dell optiplex 755
chipset usb Intel ICH9 Family
account: administrator and not administrator
I try to change key. (Red Verbatin 1GB and Iomega Mini Drive 256mb)

I just purchased Dekart Logon and I am having the same experience that is mentioned above. I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3 on a brand new Panasonic Toughbook.

To restate the problem: I have everything loaded properly and I have set the software so that it will log off the pc if the key is removed. I remove the key, it logs off the machine. The problem is when I reinsert the key. The dekart software does not seem to pick back up on the fact that I have reinserted the key and it just sits at the password screen.

I have also tried the feature of just locking the computer and it has the same effect as described above.

What kind of a device do you use as a key?

The device I am using is a Dekart DK38T Smart Card Reader. It has a smart card chip in it that came with no markings on it. The bag that the smart card was in has a white sticker on it that says DEKART SKU:3, but the invoice referred to it as an ACOS2 Smart Card.

I purchased the Dekart Logon with Smart Card Reader and Smart Card off of the Dekart website.

I have the same problem on our windows server 2003 network. My client is windows xp pro sp2. I am using the card reader and a white smart card with a small chip on the front. When I put the card in it logs me on the network fine. when I pull ythe card out it logs off fine. when i re insert the card it logs back on but I get no icons and no start bar.
subnote : If I do a ctrl+alt+del click logoff. when it logs off then back on again as i have not removed the card then it is ok.
any ideas

Uninstall the current version, restart the system, and install this beta:
xttp://files.dekart.com/beta/Logon-apr.msi

Let me know if the problem persists.

We have take the license of dekart logon and the problem is resolved with registered version 221.

I too am having this problem with the trial software. I have installed it on 2 seperate machines with the same results. I have also tried the beta version listed in this thread with no change. Both machines were Windows XP. The card reader is a GemPlusPC and the smartcard is the ACOS2.

Have others found that this problem goes away with a valid license as well?

I can unfortunately answer my own question. Entering a registration number did not solve the problem.

Matt, the trial version is fully functional; in Alucard's case that must have been a coincidence that the registered version fixed the problem. In reality we do not discriminate the trial versions (except the 30 days of use period).

Try the following beta: xttp://files.dekart.com/beta/logon-2k8-apr.exe

After you install it, enable the logging mode (http://www.dekart.com/support/howto/Howto-create-log/), restart the system and send us the logs to support at dekart dot com.

While you have your empty desktop, please try pressing Ctrl+Alt+Esc, if task manager shows up, go to File\New Task and run "explorer.exe". Does that change the situation?

I have tried doing ctrl+alt+esc but that would not bring anything up. I had also done ctrl+alt+del and chosen task manager. That would not do anything either. However, once I did ctrl+alt+del and selected "lock workstation" (or did a windowsbutton+L to lock it) the locked dialog would appear briefly, it would show that it was processing the card again and would then bring up the desktop and the task manager would be there waiting. I am installing that new version now and will send a log shortly. Thank you for your help!

I know Alex is working on this problem. In order to go ahead and move this system to test in our warehouse I created a batch file called lock.bat with the lines
@echo off
rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

I placed that lock.bat in the startup folder so that as the user's login is being processed, it automatically locks the machine. Then the software processes the smart card again and brings up everything as it should. Not a great fix, but it works for now.
