How come I can see the SIM Manager 2 software read files - but then all the data is blank? last redialed, SMS and deleted SMS files all shows a position number - but no data?? Am I doing something wrong?

Make sure the "read\write all files on SIM" is checked; otherwise SIM Manager will only read the phonebook, and you'll have to manually read the other sections by right-clicking them and pressing "read" in the context menu.

It is checked - when I right click and ask it to read it states is is reading file X of XXX and does this for phonebook, calls, etc... but then turns up little, if any information. The phonebook IS there - and I see two numbers from SMS txts... but no last numbers dialed, etc...

What kind of a SIM card do you have? which operator issued it?
Also, what kind of a phone have you got? It is up to the phone to populate those sections of the SIM, if it won't do it (and store the data in its own memory instead), there will be nothing for SIM Manager to read.

Its a Cingular 64Mb SIM card and the phone is a Samsung D807
The weird thing is the card read acts like its reading the data, it cycles through file X of XX and says reading.. and on different SIM cards (all Cingular) it pulls up different information.
Is there anyway for the SIM reader to show as an attached drive and run some lower level recovery diagnotics on it?

Do you really mean 64 MB, not KB?
There are several things we can try:
1. use the latest beta xttp://files.dekart.com/beta/simman2e.zip, maybe the card will be read
2. if you have the current 2.x official release version, go to SIM\Backup SIM and create a backup; then send it to support at dekart dot com (with a reference to this thread; the backup should contain your personal data, it will not be used by us for any purpose other than understanding and fixing the problem).
Note that the SIM Backup function is partially working in the latest beta (it is obsolete and will be removed in the next release).
So you should go for #2 first, then try #1.
The card cannot be mounted as an attached drive, but a low-level look at the card is provided by the SIM backup option - it will read the raw data from the SIM and store it in the file. The same alternative is provided by the log option ["enable error and operation logging" in options\settings]. The logs will be stored in C:, email them to support too.
