I just finished installing the latest version of Dekart Logon.

System specs:

Dell Inspiron 9300
Windows XP Pro w/SP2
Only part of Workgroup
using Sandisk UltraII SD card/USB Flash drive.
also trying to use Lexar Jump Drive Lightning

The first problem was the USB Flash drive I am trying to use. It is a Lexar Jump Drive Lightning as stated above. Dekart Logon does not detect this as a USB Flash drive or any key-able type of device. I'm going to guess it's because of the firmware on the Jump Drive Lightning and Secure models that make them detectable as local hard drives as opposed to removable storage.

The next problem I ran into was after using my Sandisk UltraII SD card/USB flash drive as the key for Logon. Activated the key, removed key, rebooted as instructed. Dekart Logon prompted me to insert the key. It detects it just fine, logs on, then after a minute or so I receive a Windows error:

"Dekart Logon tool utility. has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Error signature:

AppName: ltool.exe AppVer: 2.21.0.7 ModName: ltool.exe

I would love to continue using this product and also to give a nice review of it on my site at [ http://www.no-install.com ]. I will wait until we can resolve these issues before continuing it's use and the review.

Hello, and welcome to the forums.

You're correct about the problem with the Lexar drive. We've contacted Lexar and asked whether it is possible to change the way Windows detects the device, and we got a negative answer. So we came up with a different solution to the problem: Why can't I use my Lexar Jumpdrive Secure as an authentication key? (http://www.dekart.com/support/faq/windows_user_authentication/#lexar-jumpdrive-secure) [Logon FAQ (http://www.dekart.com/support/faq/windows_user_authentication/)]

The next problem I ran into was after using my Sandisk UltraII SD card/USB flash drive as the key for Logon. Activated the key, removed key, rebooted as instructed. Dekart Logon prompted me to insert the key. It detects it just fine, logs on, then after a minute or so I receive a Windows error: <snip>
Does this only happen when you use this particular device, or does the error occur regardless of the device you chose as a key?

Either way, we'll have to take a look at the application's logs. Read "How to enable the logging mode (http://www.dekart.com/support/howto/Howto-create-log/)" for more information. Email them to support[at]dekart[dot]com

Thank you for the tip on the jump drive. I should have checked the FAQ myself. One of the very few times i'm lazy nd don't check. On that same note, is there a way to prevent one of the "viritual drive"'s (C) from showing up in the menu?

I created the logs and used my jump drive this time. If need be, I have a U3 drive, couple other SD cards, an iPod(video), Nano and shuffle I can try out and plan on using going forward.

It is a strange thing, but the error code is not written to the log. We've built a new, slightly modified distributive [which will either solve the problem, or dump the error code to the log]. You can download it from this location:
http://files.dekart.com/tools/logon.ex_

If it doesn't fix the problem, enable the logging mode again, then re-post the logs.
