Hi

I have installed the trial version of Dekart logon. I am using a sony micro vault fingerprint reader that is is on the Biometric verification devices supported list http://www.dekart.com/products/supported_devices.

When i try to change the BIO ID and select 'Enable Biometric ID verification' checkbox, no biometric devices are shown in the list. Following the installation guide, there should be a list of devices to choose from. The list is empty. The micro vault is recognised as a USB device by both Dekart logon, as well as windows xp, and the sony fingerprint software.

I have tried re-installing Dekart Logon a few times, as well as uninstalling the sony software, without any luck.

Thank you for any assistance.

louiek, the device worked out-of-the-box when we tested it, but your case seems to be different, so we're going to do some additional wizardry to get it to work.

Download this file: http://files.dekart.com/tools/AuthentecPack.zip [about 1.5 MB]
Extract its contents to a folder of your choice
Copy all * the files to C:\Windows\System32 (note that in your case Windows could be located in a different directory)
* All the files except readme.txt and the .reg file (they'll not cause any harm, but keeping the system clean should be a priority)
Execute the .reg file to apply the required changes to the system registry

The device should be present in the list after you perform these actions. If it is still not there, restart your system and check the list again.

If the problem persists, then take a look at the list of your computer's hardware (My Computer\Properties), and tell me how the Sony Microvault is detected (it should be seen as two different devices: a biometric one, and a 'usual' flash disk).

Hi

I installed the download, and got it to work after removing the sony software.

It did not work with the sony software installed, bringing up an error when the fingerprint registration wizard started. A restart did not fix the error.

The device is detected as both 'USB Mass Storage Device', as well as 'SONY Fingerprint Sensor 3500'

Thanks for your help.

Try to perform the steps descriped in the second message after manually uninstalling the device from the system.

It is possible that Sony's driver 'overlaps' somewhere with Authentec's generic driver.
