Hi
I have just installed the trial version of Dekart logon. We are using Novell Netware 6 along with Zenworks, and this allows us to use Netwares DLU policy. When we power the PC on, after booting up the Novell Netware Client loads and then sits on the screen until a user logs in, Netwares DLU ( Dynamic Local User ) then creates a Windows user on the PC with the
same username and password and hence the user only has to login once. When the user logs out, the Novell created user in Windows is then deleted, and by using this system it saves us from having to create all of our staff users and their passwords manually on each of the
130 PCs.

While trialing Dekart Logon, am I correct in saying that it logs into Windows first and then Netware, if so is it possible to configure Dekart Logon so that it only passes the Novell credentials to the client and logs into Netware so that DLU can create the Windows user and then Dekart Logon can login to the DLU created account and therefore into Windows.

I would be very greatful for any ideas or solutions.

Thanks:)

You are correct, Logon works by logging on to Windows first, and then the Novell Client is launched and used to connect to the Netware server. Hence in the current circumstances, you will not be able to use our program to achieve what you plan.

However, we had a similar request in the past, and such an option was added to our to-do list. So now its priority is increased (though there are still other things of a greater importance, on which we are focused now). It is still too early to talk about approximate dates of release though.

Hi

Thanks for the reply

One final question, if we were to migrate to Windows 2003 Server from Novell Netware, will Dekart Logon work with users held in Active Directory and Domains.

Thanks:)

The program works with Active Directory. When you add a user to the key, enter the name of the domain rather than the name of the local workstation.

Still, I know how painful it is to migrate a system to a new framework (in your case, Novell to Active Directory), therefore you should try first, and if it meets your requirements, migrate the entire system.

Is this response any different now?

Unfortunately not; no changes were applied to that part of the software.
