Hello,
I am looking into purchasing the following product...
http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=246#anchor1
Does anyone know if this device will work ok with Dekart Logon. I am unable to find any literature on the device that tells me if it conforms with the standards that you mention on your site.
Most of the devices that you list in the FAQ are hard to find or very expensive. Just want to make sure this one will work before I spend any money on it.
Thanks!

Shawn, it will work, being a BioAPI compliant device. It uses an Authentec sensor.
In fact, such a device is now somewhere on my desk and we often use it for testing purposes.
See the attached images, the black fingerprint scanner uses the same controller, but is cheaper, and the great part is that it is also a USB hub! So you get two USB ports 'for free', which is a nice bonus.
From the two, I would choose the Targus scanner without second thoughts.

That Targus model looks pretty cool, but I cannot find it for sale anywhere. :(
Thanks for the response!

It could be so because Targus is a brand less popular than APC is. Perhaps a better strategy is to look for "BioAPI compatible fingerprint scanners" (or HA API), rather than specific models? In this case the sellers will probably offer you a longer list to choose from, and you might be surprised by the number of fingerprint readers out there that use the same Authentec sensor (as in this APC scanner).

I have both a MS Fingerprint Reader and an APC fingerprint reader/mouse. (On different computers.) Unfortunately, neither seem to work with Dekart Logon. I suspect I'm missing something obvious, but when I check the Change BIO ID checkbox, nothing appears in the list.
Is there something else I need to do in order for the devices to appear in the list? Both work properly for login and Web sites without the Logon software.
Thanks!

Try to use Authentec's generic driver (applies to the APC biometric mouse), for more details, see this thread: setting up the driver for Authentec biometric scanners (http://forum.dekart.com/showthread.php?t=440).
As for Microsoft's Fingerprint Reader, it is not supported

Thanks Alex! That seemed to work just fine with the APC biometric mouse.
As far as the MS Fingerprint Reader, I thought I saw a post a long time ago on the old forum where someone got it to work. Does that mean that DigitalPersona's other fingerprint readers also aren't supported since they make the MS version? (Not that I have anything else of theirs, but really just curious.)
Again, thanks for the solution for the APC model!

From what I've heard, nobody can use the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader with applications other than those developed by Microsoft.
Many times I tried to find the specifications of this device, but such details are not available. It's just a "black box" with the 'Microsoft' label on it, can't find out what is inside of it.

Actually, there is a Firefox extension that supports the MS Fingerprint Reader called FingerFox.
Since it's basically a "dumbed down" Digital Persona device, I would suspect that it shares many of the same properties.
