Hi,

just been trying your login product but have run into a problem, hopefully you could shed some light onto the problem

Once the program is installed it directs me to the first setup screen of the logon admin screen, there is a screen that says "please insert your key" and under that is says "no inserted keys found, please insert your key"

currently i have tried 2 usb flash drives, which the program does not seem to see but windows does

can you shed any light on where i am going wrong

thanks in advance

The most probable cause of this problem is the fact that the USB flash drives are detected as fixed drives, while Logon is configured to accept only [B]removable USB disks.

You can change that by applying the Use-Fixed-Drives registry update (http://www.dekart.com/support/faq/windows_user_authentication/use-fixed-drives.reg).

Most often this happens to Lexar Jumpdrive units, though it can happen to drives of other vendors too.

Alex,
I finally found the solution to my problem with the JumpDrive Secure...or so I thought. I have tried this fix and can not make it work. The registry is updated as it should be but I continue to get the same response regarding no removable drive.

The solution given is for fixed drives. The Jumpdrive Secure shows up as a Local drive type. Does that matter.

I sure hope I can resolve this. I do have one USB that works with Password Manager but I am hoping to be able to run it on the JumpDrive Secure. It is a great program.

Thanks,
R. Reed

That fix *should* make Logon 'see' the Lexar JumpDrive; but if you say you still have issues, please read my signature to find out how to enable the logging mode, then send us the logs to support[at]dekart[dot]com

There is also a similar problem with Password Manager. A new version is available, it should resolve the issue; follow this link to download the new Password Carrier (http://files.dekart.com/beta/DPCarrier_fixed_disk.zip) [yes, the program was renamed].

Alex,

Thank you for your time and the quick response. The new PassWord Carrier works perfectly.

Hello,

The problem in my case is a bit more narrowed down, Dekart doesn't like the drive letters "A" and "B", which I use for my USB keys across all my computers for consistency. The minute I pick a drive letter other than those two, it sees my key.

I have tried the registry fix yet I still experience the same problem; however it could be due to the fact that there's a huge list of drives in there and my USB is listed last and I can't see it, since Dekart Logon doesn't let me scroll through the list of detected drives.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Hi,

Normally drives A: and B: are ignored because they are allocated to floppy disks (and users would be annoyed by the sound of the drive each time the software checks whether the key is there or not).

You can use this method to make A: and B: usable: http://www.dekart.com/howto/howto_logon/authentication_data_floppy/
