I have found out that my defragment program is not working correctly when Dekart logon is installed.

Am using PerfectDisk 7.0 and it will defragment files "offline" at startup, like the MTF and page file.
The problem is that now days (after Dekart logon installation and a bunch of other programs) my computer crash when this should happen. I have notice reports from perfectdisk, just before crash, saying that the "C drive is locked". Also, when the computer have restarted and am logged in, Windows XP says that the computer have been restarted because of Dekart Logon.

If I would guess, it's a problem that Dekart Logon is locking C drive as long as nobody is logged in (nice). But it creates problems for program that is started before Windows XP.

I can't confirm that this problem is related to Dekart Logon. I haven’t replicated the problem with and without Dekart logon installed.

Could you attach screenshots of the errors?
How many partitions do you have?
Does the problem appear only in the case of C:, or does it apply to other drives too?

I suggest you to try FileMon (http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html), this utility can tell you in realtime, which processes access a specific disk. You will be able to make a list of "suspect" applications and then eliminate them one by one by experimenting.

We have never got reports of disk defragmenters being in conflict with Dekart Logon, therefore I am inclined to believe that we must look elsewhere for the cause of the crash. But still, we do not have sufficient details about the problem, so it is too early to make a conslusion.

Also, tell me which other programs you installed before the problem appeared. That could give us some additional pieces for the puzzle.

I uninstalled Dekart Logon and the problem still exist.

The problem is not related to Dekart Logon.

Glad to hear we're "off the hook", but still, I believe others are also interested in finding out what the real problem is; besides, if you keep us up to date, we might be able to help you with this issue [even if it is a non-Dekart one].

Did you have any luck with FileMon?

FileMon monitors files under windows xp. It does not monitor under the startup.

I started windows xp with the switches /sos and /bootlog. The failing driver is defrag32.exe and the path to the file is in the PerfectDisk 7.0 catalog.

The problem is related to PerfectDisk and something else. I have made a new installation on my computer and reinstalled all programs. On this new installation, PerfectDisk fails to work under the startup of Windows XP, complaining about a locked C drive.

A closer lock on PerfectDisk's homepage, I found this:
http://www.raxco.com/support/windows/kb_details.cfm?kbid=494&issue=3
It describes my problem perfectly and I notice one program on the list that was not installed before. StyleXP.

So, to end this, there was a conflict between PerfectDisk and StyleXP that made my computer crash. Conclusion, Dekart Logon works perfectly!
