Hello everyone, I've installed 30-days trial of Logon v. 2.21 EN but now I want to remove it (it is still 23 days left before expiry).
Uninstall invoked trough Control Panel does not start (only cursor changes briefly - that's all). Same problem occurs when starting uninstall from program group. I also tried running (uninstall command):
C:\WINDOWS\system32\RunDll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\WINDOWS\INF\logon.inf, DefaultUninstall
from command line in hope to see some errors but there was nothing.

Same problems are experienced in a Safe Mode.

What I have noticed however is that logon.inf is empty (0 bytes) but at this point I have no idea what purpose of this file is.

What is the other way besides of uninstall that does not work to get rid off Dekart Logon software from my system (without crashing it)?

Anyone had similar problems?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

P.S. My system: Inspiron 9400 / Windows XP SP2 with latest patches.

Hmm, the cause of this must be the fact that logon.inf is empty. The problem is that it is impossible to determine why it is like that, it should have been done during the installation process.

Have you experienced any 'anomalies' when using the program?

Take a look at this thread to find out how you can revert to the classic logon prompt: http://forum.dekart.com/showthread.php?t=593

Thanks for your comment but removing ginadll as you sugested in other post will leave me without any logon manager and therefore unable to login to Windows. It's not a good idea isn't it?
I would appreciate help on how to remove ALL files (not only registry entry) that Dekart software installed on my laptop.

No, you don't remove gina.dll itself, you only remove a particular registry entry, which means that Windows will use the default library (since the registry key will not re-define the default behaviour because it is now absent). gina.dll itself is still there, so it's not a 'not good idea' (besides, I would not write this on the forum knowing that these instructions will damage your system); though you are right, deleting gina.dll is a bad idea.

If you want to remove the program by hand, start the program's installer, and then, without continuing it, explore \Documents and settings\<username>\Local settings\Temp\xxxx.tmp\ (that's where the installer unpacks its temporary files, so you can see which components the program writes to your system).

Search for those files in \%windir%\System32.

If you're not sure what you're doing, better don't do this; otherwise - everything is going to be fine.

Hi Alex, i did remove registry key value NOT the dll itself but my Windows installation clearly failed to go back to default login lib and i was presented with an error:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
User Interface Failure:
The Logon User Interface DLL failed to load.
Contact your system administrator to replace the DLL, or restore the original DLL.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
So what i did is to specify msgina.dll as the ginadll value and that got rid off dekart login screen. However I still was not able to use Welcome screen and Fast User Switching as those seemed to be still disabled (probably because of having alternative gina active).

What fully solved my problem was your suggestion to look at temp folder. There I found logon.inf which i copied to %systemdrive%\windows\inf to overwrite the empty logon.inf - the original source of the problem.

After that uninstall program started (reporting some errors probably related to missing registry entry) and removed remains of Dekart Logon prog.

Thanks for your help!

Hello Alex, I've installed Logon 2.21 on my computer but it didn't work
As my OS is windows Vista, I've updated Logon to 2.22 version

But this one didn't work correctly so I've tried to uninstall it but it says me that there is no MUI loaded, then I tried to unistall in safe mode via the configuration board but there nothing happened
Finally I search the registration key "Ginadll" as you've explained in an other topic but this one doesn't exist. :-(

Can you help me uninstall Logon please, I'll be happy if you find a solution to fix my problem. :-)

Sorry for my english, I'm french speaking ;-)

That's okay Alex, don't search further ;-)
I've made a restauration of my system to a point before the installation of Logon

I should have thought to that solution before disturbing you... Sorry :-)
