Using SIM Manager (1.09) importing a CSV file was very easy, and it worked well. SIM Manager 2, however, is not the same experience. When trying to import a CSV file on 1.09, the application presented the option to map the fields that you wanted to import. SIM Manager 2 does not offer the same choice.

When importing a CSV file in SIM Manager 2, it imports the name and phone number (in Name,Number format) into the Name field in the application. Is there a way to map the fields when importing, as in earlier versions of the application?

Also, I cannot open a .PHN file that was created in 1.09 in version 2. Opening the file directly from the desktop will open SIM Manager 2, but no content is displayed from the .PHN file.

I would appreciate any help that can be provided for these issues. These features were the primary reasons I purchased the original software and its upgrade.

Hi,

The PHN format used in the different versions of SIM Manager is not compatible. The structure was changed because SIM Manager 2 reads more details from the card, thus it needs a more complex structure for data storage.

You can still migrate your contacts via an intermediary CSV file.

As for the mapping of fields, we plan to add a much more flexible mapping mechanism in the future release of SIM Manager 2. The one in SIM Manager 1.x allowed you to choose which of the fields would correspond to Name, and which one to Number; the one we have in mind will allow you to map several fields into one, or create multiple addressbook entries with different numbers if a contact has more than one number assigned to it.
